LCR: Interstate Flamez and SkyMan to open for Mason on Marathon Monday Reply

Lasell College Radio will host their second annual Marathon Monday Concert at the Van Winkle, East, West, and McClelland Quad with Philadelphia-based hip-hop artist Mason performing as the headliner. Interstate Flamez and SkyMan will be supporting acts, as voted by the students. The show will coincide with the Patriot’s Day holiday and the Boston Marathon on April 16.

Mason, a hip hop artist from Philadelphia, is affiliated with Doghouse Records. He recently played at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX and has an album, “Different Kinda Cool”, that’s due to be released this spring.

In a close Facebook poll of 1323 students to decide the openers, Interstate Flamez had the most votes with 369, closely followed by SkyMan with 365. Bigg Dee was third, and will not be performing, with 363 votes.

“Students are much more likely to attend an event if they have a vested interest,” said Jay Gildea, the Station Manager for Lasell College Radio. “LCR has also been looking to expand our presence on popular social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.”

The concert will go from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Valentine Dining Hall will be closed on Marathon Monday at 12:30, so drinks and refreshments will be served in the quad. Lasell College Radio hopes for a good turnout and for students to enjoy the event.

“With the concert series being in its second year, students will have a greater awareness of the event,” said Gildea.  “With the buzz generated from the opener poll, our expectations are high.”
