Men’s Volleyball has begun the 2014 season on a high-note. During the first two weeks of the season, the team recorded a 5-2 record.

The only two losses came from top 10 ranked opponents: defending national champion Springfield College and New York University.

“We still have a young team with an immense amount of potential,” said junior Dan Raffol. “From the looks of it, the only direction we’re going is up.”

This year’s team is made up of six upperclassmen and ten underclassmen. The team welcomes three new members this season, including freshman Tristan Davis (Rochester, NY) and Patrick McDonald (Floral Park, NY), and Elms College transfer and 2013 GNAC Rookie of the Year winner Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, MA). Team assists leader Andrew Glenn (Westport, CT) will handle much of the setting.

Vautrin immediately made a splash with his new team, leading the Lasers in kills at the Johnson and Wales tournament, as well as earning a spot on the all-tournament team.

Key match-ups this season include matches against Anna Maria at home on March 1, at Mount Ida on April 3, and an April 5 home doubleheader against Emerson and Albertus Magnus.
