Ed Conlin, Lasell’s Chief of Campus Police and Director of Public Safety, formally retired from his position on March 20. Following his retirement, Chief Conlin will be serving as an Emergency Services Specialist for the National Fire Protection Association. Captain John Kennedy will be the acting chief for Lasell while the college searches for a permanent replacement.
Conlin began his service at Lasell 22 years ago as a part-time safety officer eventually working his way up to the rank of Lieutenant in 2002, and became chief in June of 2012. During this time he also served as a local fire fighter.
“I’m not sure you would normally find one person with a law enforcement background, an authorized police officer trained as supervisor, and a fire safety and protection person,” said Lasell President Michael Alexander. “He is also a trained expert in emergency response management.”
The range of Conlin’s experience made him the ideal leader for Lasell’s Campus Police department. He was responsible for the implementation of Lasell’s emergency response programs, for the planning and execution of campus fire response procedures and drills, and most recently for the merger between of the Lasell and Mount Ida police departments.
