Relive the Disney magic Reply

When Disney live action reboots go to theaters, a wide range of ages can be seen sitting next to one another. I am the 21-year-old shushing kids in the theaters because I want to watch Belle dancing with the Beast while Mrs. Potts sings “Tale as Old as Time” in the background. As a child, I was obsessed with all things Disney… that has not changed.

Watching Disney movies is a form of therapy. When dealing with adult problems and midterms, stepping into the magical world of Disney is a way to escape reality for a minute. Disney has come out with several live action reboots: “Beauty and the Beast,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Maleficent,” “Cinderella,” and “Jungle Book.”

Some Disney fans think these movies are a bit overkill, but I could not be happier. New technology advancements in special effects is like an empty canvas that is eager to be painted. While the reboots are similar to the originals, there are still differences between the two.

Some reboots are loosely based off of their originals, such as “Maleficent,” and others are truer to the original plots such as “Beauty and the Beast.”

Disney’s upcoming films are “Mulan,” “The Lion King” and “Aladdin.” Personally, “The Lion King” is my ultimate favorite Disney movie and I can’t wait to see how Disney approaches the live reboot when it comes to theaters on July 29, 2019. “Aladdin” will be coming to theaters on May 24, 2019.

“Mulan” will be a longer wait and won’t be heading to theaters until March 27, 2020. Hearing about “Mulan” has made me very nervous because Li Shang is said to not be cast for the live action movie, despite that he is one of the main characters in the animated original. There is also rumor that there will be no singing in the “Mulan” movie.

These movies bring Disney back to its roots from where they started decades ago. Disney movies taught us many different life lessons. Years later, these messages are still just as meaningful, while evoking feelings of nostalgia. These live action movies allow us

to feel the magic one more time.
