The men’s volleyball team is coming off of two consecutive conference wins the week of March 18. The Lasers clinched a 3-2 win on Tuesday, March 19 in the fifth match against Johnson & Wales University ( JWU). On Thursday, March 21, they took down Colby-Sawyer 3-0, sweeping. The Lasers have been on the move with a 12-12 overall record.

“The season has been an interesting one to say the least,” says senior Nate Gallo. “It has gone pretty well but could go better and we can make that transition with ease. We just have to put our minds to it and work.” Last year was a rebuilding year for the team, not graduating any seniors and this season the Lasers have gained four first year students.

During Tuesday night’s game, JWU almost had the 3-0 beat out, but Lasell came back in the third and fourth match sliding past the Wildcats 25-22 and 25-23. Lasell secured the final match 18-16, giving them a well earned victory. On Thursday, the Chargers fell to Lasell for three straight matches, giving Lasell a boost underclassmen more playing time.

The team has been perfect at home this season with a 3-0 record and an away record of 7-4. The boys have racked up 745 kills in 24 matches which averages out to 9.20 kills per set. They carry an overall hitting percentage of .146 with a percentage of .175 in conference play.

The Lasers are lead by first year head coach, Dana Jones. The leadership continues with seniors Andy Henriquez, Jordan Aprea, David Anthony, and Gallo. “Being able to help the underclassmen with anything they need schoolwork or technique wise and give them as much as my knowledge as possible makes me feel better because I’m helping them excel on and off the court,” said Gallo.

Lasell will play at home next on Thursday, March 28 against Wentworth Institute of Technology at 7 p.m.
