Two evenly matched teams took the floor for a Monday night game at the athletic center on February 7. The Lasell women’s basketball team (8-10 overall) welcomed the Elms College Blazers (8-7 overall) to campus for the start of their busy week, and this game did not disappoint.

Gameplay resumes for Lasers

On March 13, Lasell University announced the cancelation of in-person classes, asking students to head home until COVID-19 was under control. Two days prior, the men’s volleyball team hosted Springfield College in what would become the last on-campus sporting event for over a year.

Behind the birth of “Boomer the Torchbearer,” 12

The community celebrated the twelfth birthday of school mascot Boomer on March 24 at an event held by the Student Alumni Association (SAA) in Valentine Dining Hall. The event was complete with decorations, birthday cake, blue cotton candy, and a cookie monster ice cream bar.

Campus facilities change for COVID

Kristy Walter: The lifelong Laser

Lasell’s athletic program boasts over 300 student-athletes and includes 17 varsity teams between men’s and women’s sports. It may surprise some that Lasell wasn’t always a Division III NCAA school, and the person responsible for Lasell’s athletic department, Kristy Walter, is still working tirelessly as the Director of Athletics today.

Athletic Center gets face-lift
