Severe winter impacts baseball season

The mountains of snow that plagued New England this winter proved to be more impactful than anyone expected. Lasell’s baseball team experienced a slow start to their season, but overcame their frustrating situation.

Each year, the baseball team travels to to Fort Myers, Florida to escape the cold and improve their skills. Spring training allows the team to practice in ideal weather and provides the opportunity to play a string of games, which are not impacted by the erratic weather. Storify: Lasell reacts to Sox World Series victory

The Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 in Game 6 of the World Series to capture its third title in 10 seasons. Boston slugger David Ortiz was named World Series MVP. The Red Sox clinched the World Series at Fenway Park for the first time since 1918.

Members of the Lasell community took in the game at Boston bars, dorms, and even at Fenway Park. Many people used the hashtag #BostonStrong when Tweeting about the victory, as the Red Sox became the symbol of hope and strength following the Boston Marathon bombings.
