Bruins honor two legends before home opener

After starting the season on a three game road trip, winning two and losing one, the Bruins returned to Boston for their 2016 home opener. They faced off against the New Jersey Devils at the TD Garden on Thursday, Oct. 20 and skated to a 2-1 win. What caught the eyes of those watching wasn’t what happened during the three periods but rather the ceremonial puck drop before the game.

Previewing the Bruins 2016/17 season

The Boston Bruins are coming off a disappointing season after failing to make the playoffs for the second consecutive year. Their big acquisition of the off-season was signing forward David Backes from the St. Louis Blues, and veteran center Dominic Moore, who makes the Bruins his tenth team in a 13-year career thus far. The Bruins lost Loui Eriksson and Chris Kelly to free agency, and bought out Dennis Seidenberg’s contract.
