Madison Griffin: motivated by passion

There are multiple ways to complete the college experience. Senior Fashion Media and Marketing major Madison Griffin chose to dive into the Lasell community by participating in extracurriculars and becoming an on-campus leader, giving her a feeling of accomplishment for when she graduates in a couple of weeks.

Empty Bowls inspires community service and outreach

Every Wednesday night at 8 p.m., Yamawaki ceramics studio is ablaze with clay, music and community. Founded four years ago, Empty Bowls is now a renowned club on campus. The club’s mission is to give back to those less fortunate. Each week, the club hand-crafts bowls for their main event, a fundraiser on March 27, 2020.

Filling de Witt with Empty Bowls

Friday, April 12 marked the third annual Empty Bowls event at Lasell. Members of the Empty Bowls club invited students and community members to de Witt Hall to buy a handmade ceramic bowl, enjoy a meal and listen to live music. The proceeds from the event went to the Centre Street Food Pantry for the fight against hunger.

The fight against hunger starts with “Empty Bowls”

Empty Bowls hosted their second community event on Friday April 13 in de Witt Hall. 

Guests were provided food, live entertainment and, for a $10 donation, a person could select a handcrafted ceramic bowl of their choice to take home. The group raised $1,500 to donate to the Centre Street Food Pantry in Newton, as efforts to fight hunger.
