After a long wait, the softball team didn’t waste time recording the best start in program history, with eight wins to begin the season before falling to Johnson & Wales University (JWU) in a set of doubleheaders. Since then, their overall record has returned to an average of 8-10, but the team matched their win total from their last full season played. Second-year head coach Sarah Woodside said she has seen the team improve in both attitude and skill since she stepped into her role with the program in 2020.

The Valentine Dining Hall opened up their indoor seating on Tuesday, March 9 for the first time since the pandemic broke out. After what was a long-awaited decision based on the safety of students, the university decided it was time to allow students to dine indoors.
One of the most missed on-campus offerings has returned as a reward for students’ commitment to keeping the community safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic— 1851 has re-opened for late-night dining three nights a week.

While the student body was away on winter break, the university made several technological upgrades in hopes of improving internet connection for the campus community. Taking a hybrid approach to the 2020-2021 school year due to COVID-19, having competent WiFi has become a necessity.
Emma Murray, junior fashion design major with a minor in business, said her mother helped discover and fuel her passion for fashion. At a young age, Murray was infatuated with her mother’s box of scrap fabrics. She didn’t know what she was doing with them; not many five-year-olds would, but she knew she felt a connection with them.

With only 266 spots for 714 resident students, the parking office has had its hands full this semester. In hopes of accommodating resident and commuter students alike amidst the pandemic, the parking office made some adjustments to their system this year.
