Director of the Honors Program Professor Stephanie Athey and Director of the Donahue Institute for Ethics, Diversity, and Inclusion Jesse Tauriac are teaming up. “I think of this collaboration as a pretty natural one,” said Professor Athey, “Honors has always been interested in honoring diversity and in diversifying the honors program.”

The Honors Program held its first ever Honors Retreat for new members last week. Student leaders, Briana Wrubleski and Hillary Brown, co-led the affair with the help of their peers.While majority of students were freshmen, late-comers to the program were also in attendance. The barbecue kicked off the event on Friday, September 11 followed by a Q&A panel, an introduction to the Honors Program, and team bonding activities on Saturday, September 12.

This fall, Lasell’s Honors Program continues to make changes to strengthen and expand the program. It has made adjustments to standards including new grade requirements, courses, and introducing an emphasis on service learning over the past four years. The program has welcomed a record number of students into the program with a total of 172 students, 16 being seniors and 67 being first-years, with more expected to join.

The Lasell Honors Program traveled to Niagara Falls, New York this month to participate in an annual conference showcasing their achievements and work. The conference, known as Northeast Regional Honors Council Conference, had colleges and their Honors Program members from all over the Northeast participate. More…
