Senior Olivia Powers is currently spending their last semester interning on campus. As they finish their criminal justice major and psychology minor, Powers is interning for Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Edward G. Weeks. Powers has been working with Weeks since the fall of 2020.

Every Lasell student is required to complete at least one internship before graduating. While it used to be that students here were unable to accept paid internship positions, that is thankfully no longer the case. But, even now that students may obtain programs offering monetary compensation now, many aren’t lucky enough to nail one down.

Student intern for Lasell’s Peer Health Educators, Corey Zemke, discusses her mission of promoting sexual education on campus this semester.
Hannah Smith: Where does your passion for sexual education come from?
Corey Zemke: I knew that the Peer Health Educators did things revolving around sexual education, but they’ve never done much and the students have been requesting more. Allison Weinberg [Witcomb], my advisor (and the peer health professional staff leader), let me have full reins and I’m running with it.

To add to the changes on campus, the school welcomes many new hires in different departments this fall. There are two new area coordinators, Kevin Castiglioni and David DupreWilson. Two new assistant professors were hired, Leanna Farnam and Nickki Pearce Dawes along with visiting instructor, Julia Khodor.
