Lasell cancels Winter sports

In a time when cancelations seem to be inevitable every single day, another victim has been taken: the winter sports season. Lasell’s announcement came on October 23, 11 days before the presidents’ council decided to make the same decision for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The counsel is made up of the head of each conference school.

Vanderhorst: The ultimate fighter battles beyond the court

Junior Kevin Vanderhorst was born July 20, 1997 and raised in the Dominican Republic until 2013, when he came to the U.S. with his mom, dad and little brother. He moved to Lawrence, Mass, where he attended Lawrence’s public school system. His life changed instantly. He didn’t know anyone and having to learn a new language along with the change of weather made adjusting harder. But, his passion to be on the court was always familiar.

Men’s basketball tips off

“Our goal is to win a championship; that’s the goal of the team,” said men’s basketball head coach Aaron Galleta. “There is a lot of work we need to do and the guys have done well so far.”

The men’s basketball team enters the 2013 season with high hopes. The Lasers finished the 2012-13 campaign with a record of 6-19 (5-13 against the GNAC). Continue reading “Men’s basketball tips off”
