Campus Activities Board holds ice skating night

 Lasell University’s Campus Activities Board (CAB)  had planned a skate night, hosted on February 27. The event was moved indoors due to inclement weather. Arria Witty, Vice President of the laughs & crafts section stated “Unfortunately there was no skate night due to the weather. It was moved inside Arnow Campus Center where we had hot cocoa and cookies.” Skate night would have featured an opportunity to ice skate, enjoy provided snacks/beverages, and a raffle, all while socially distancing.

Lasell Students take Sexual Misconduct Climate Survey

On Monday, February 22, President Alexander sent out an email containing a Lasell University Sexual Misconduct Climate Survey. The survey, which was the second one launched this school year, intended to get a better understanding of the safety of students on campus. The school raffled off seven $50 Amazon gift cards to those who submitted responses to show their appreciation for their participation. Prior to the survey’s closure on March 12, Lasell received over 600 anonymous surveys. 

Campus Activities Board hosts Netflix watch party

The Campus Activities Board hosted a Netflix watch party on March 5 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Students were able to join virtually to watch the playing of Mean Girls 2 via a Zoom link that was posted in the club’s Facebook page as well as in their Instagram account’s bio. The next event hosted by CAB will be a “Candy Cart” where students will be able to make bags filled with candy. This event is scheduled for April 6. Student Government Association holds weekly public meetings

The Student Government Association is set to hold virtual meetings every Tuesday from 5:-8p.m. The SGA meetings are open to all members of the Lasell Community and students are encouraged to voice their questions or concerns. Those who are interested in attending can join through the Zoom link that is posted on the Laser Involvement website.

Student Government Association revises

Since the start of COVID-19 in March, Student Government Association (SGA) has risen to the task of quickly adapting to the “new normal,” while still upholding tradition as it fulfills its purpose of wholly representing the school’s student body. They have done so while working toward making necessary adjustments during the semester.

Lasell Votes: the season finale

Lasell Votes sent out a student-wide email promoting their organization and ways on how Lasers could vote; providing a Zoom link for anyone to join. These zoom calls took place every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., starting from September 22 to the Election Day on November 3. The Lasell Votes Team is run by Library Director Anna Sarneso and Associate Director of the Center for Community-Based Learning (CCBL) Byrd Hughes.

The cost of convenience

Laundry is an unavoidable part of living away from home. Though it may be a small hassle and cost some money, it still has to get done at some point. The original way of paying for laundry was via the swipe of a card. Now with the new laundry system, it may just make it easier for some students to get their laundry done by eliminating the plastic cards and enabling students to pay through an app.

Founder’s Day reflects on university traditions

Founder’s Day took place in the STC on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event celebrated the founding of Lasell and its 168th year as a college and recently, a university. There were artifacts, food, film, and a speech from President Michael Alexander.

The event was held on the main floor of the STC and included snacks, apple cider and free Lasell t-shirts, provided by the Student Alumni Association (SAA) and the Student Government Association (SGA).

SGA unites campus with follow-up forum

On Jan. 31, Student Government Association (SGA) hosted a follow-up discussion to last April’s race forums. The conversations updated the community on how the school has addressed the racial climate on campus. Students, faculty and administration came together in de Witt Hall to hear panelists from different areas on campus who are involved with the diversity and inclusion activities.
