Sarah Woodside is the new head softball coach at Lasell University. Woodside was a graduate of Lasell in 2007 and played outfield for the Lasers while obtaining a degree in Psychology. She coached at Wayland High school for five years prior to her hire at Lasell this summer.

On the road for spring break

Lasell’s Softball and Baseball teams took their annual spring break trips. Softball played in a tournament in Claremont, FL, finishing the week 1-9 versus other east coast teams. Baseball toured the east coast traveling to St. Mary’s City, MD, Cary, NC, and Kings Point, NY. After losing only one senior from last season, the softball team capitalized on the opportunity to improve this spring with help from many returnees, some new freshman, and a brand new set of coaches.

The Lasers spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was a success, as the team compiled a 5-3 record. Last year the team went 3-7 during the same trip.

Not only does the softball team use the tournament to play different competitors on the field, but they also use the trip as a chance to get to know each other better and become closer as team. The team welcomed six new freshmen to the team and one transfer.

Gallery: softball doubleheader vs Emmanuel

The softball team split a doubleheader against Emmanuel on Saturday, March 29 on Taylor Field. The Lasers dropped the first game, 3-1 in eight innings, but defeated the Saints 6-1 in the second game. Lasell improves to 10-4 overall.
